Breaking: Senate Intelligence Committee chairman steps down after FBI serves a search warrant on him.

"Republican Sen. Richard Burr has stepped aside as chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee amid an investigation into his stock sales during the early stages of the coronavirus outbreak." [Read the full story from Fox News.]

Sen. Burr has stepped down as Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee today, after the FBI served a search warrant on him yesterday. The FBI reportedly took his cell phone and had previously received access to his iCloud account. (Fox News)

Burr is under investigation for potentially more than $1.5 million in stock trades ... which may have been made based on information he learned as a Senator in March. Those trades were made ahead of the major market response to COVID-19. That's illegal based on a 2012 law called the STOCK Act, which (ironically?) he voted against. (Washington Post)

It's unlikely President Trump or the GOP will rally for a spirited defense. Conservative commentators, including Tucker Carlson on Fox News, expressed their concern in March, when the allegations began. Plus, if the allegations are true, it's the "swamp" mentality that President Trump campaigned against -- and promised to end in Washington, D.C.

Burr already announced he won't run for re-election in 2022. But there's an important Senate race in North Carolina -- his state -- this year, and North Carolina is scheduled to host the Republican National Convention, too.

AOC joins Team Biden ... and she'll chair a special committee on climate change.

"Ocasio-Cortez, who has championed The Green New Deal legislative package, was tapped Wednesday as one of the two co-chairs of the Biden-Sanders climate change task force, along with John Kerry, the former secretary of state and longtime Massachusetts senator who was an early Biden supporter." [Read the full story from POLITICO.]

Although she hasn't formally endorsed Joe Biden, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (better known as AOC) will co-chair a joint task force for his campaign. The topic is climate change, and she's sure to bring her far-left, incredibly expensive, government-heavy Green New Deal ideas to the table.

Voters may think of Biden as a moderate Democrat. But the 2020 campaign has shown Biden has moved to the extreme left -- along with the Democratic Party.

CNN downplays their own poll that shows great news for President Trump.

"And the story to which the homepage linked doesn’t mention that Trump had never scored higher in a CNN poll. True, there are lots of noisy data in the piece, most of which cut against Trump. But on the other hand the single most surprising and hence most newsworthy detail of the poll was that Trump holds a seven-point lead over Biden in the battleground states." [Read the full story from National Review.]

You wouldn't know it based on their coverage, but CNN found that President Trump had his best-ever approval rating in their poll -- and is leading Joe Biden in key battleground states.

It seems the more the mainstream media tells Americans how terrible President Trump is ... the more the American people judge for themselves -- and support the President!

Important, under-reported story: in a major power grab, Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats want to overhaul the U.S. House rules.

"In the proposed rule changes, Democrats are also opening the door to proxy votes on any legislation to make it to the newly proposed virtual House floor, not just coronavirus-related legislation, as before. House Republicans worry these stipulations will be abused for as long as Pelosi keeps renewing the chamber’s pandemic procedures without full-chamber authority following Friday’s vote." [Read the full story from The Federalist.]

With President Trump in the White House and Republicans in the majority in the U.S. Senate, Democrats rely on their power in the U.S. House to launch attacks against the Administration and try to enact their extreme legislative agenda.

Now Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats are making their biggest power grab yet, as they try to up-end 200 years of procedure and precedent to change how Representatives vote, how hearings are conducted, and how much power the Speaker of the House can wield.

It's important for all Americans -- including Congress -- to stay safe at these uncertain times due to COVID-19. But, as The Federalist reported, these are changes that have "never before been done in the nation's history."
