Dear Friends,
IWPR is on the frontlines—amplifying the voices of women and families, and generating the policy solutions and strategies that will create an even recovery for us all.
This week, we learned that women, who are being disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, have lost a historic 11.3 million jobs within the past month, bringing the unemployment rate among women to 15.7 percent.
The loss of jobs will have a devastating impact on women—many of whom are the primary wage earners for their families.
We haven’t reached the bottom of the economic losses women and families will experience as a result of COVID-19 and recovery will be slow. As such, we have to make sure that women and their families have the supports and protections they need to weather this storm. These supports include paid sick leave, basic income, childcare, and workplace flexibility—many of the issues IWPR has been championing for decades.
Now more than ever, our voice, our research and policy analysis are critical to recovery efforts and will go a long towards ensuring that the policies generated at the state and federal levels are inclusive of the women and families we care about most.
We need your help to stay on the frontlines. Support our work by making a donation to IWPR today!
