This nation is ours, and it is ours to continue to perfect until it works for everyone within it — no matter what.

Today, CEO Michael McAfee and President Ashleigh Gardere spoke to a virtual audience, following a moving performance from musicians Kendall Ramseur and BLKBOK.

Together they delivered a critical reminder and invitation: no matter the election’s outcome, this is our house, and we have to own it.

It is “We The People” who have continued to perfect this democracy. We take up this aspirational, prophetic struggle from our ancestors who didn’t get to taste democracy but still worked together for change. We don’t just have a taste of democracy; we have their courage, hopes, and dreams at our backs.

So regardless of what happens in this election, we must stay steady and steely in our resolve. We must adopt a transformative leadership stance that each of us are founders of the multiracial democracy that has yet to be born.

This work knows no political season. We can and must transform our democracy and economy in service of our collective flourishing, toward a country that works for all.
