Dear Friends,

Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce has issued a statement on State Police giving a Cease and Desist order against the pastor of a Sierra County church. On Mother's Day authorities gave the order to Caleb Cooper of the New Hope Revival Church. State Police presented the C&D at his home.

The following is a statement from Chairman Pearce about this continued attack on New Mexicans' rights:
“The State Police C&D order against the church Sunday was just the latest example of how peoples’ rights are being trampled on. This goes beyond a small business being fined unfairly to save lives and livelihoods. The state’s position is now to ignore the notion that our Constitution continues even in a crisis and to infringe upon the civil rights of our citizens and their rights to freely worship. This action is nothing less than government overstepping its bounds and failing to justly and equitably deal with the pandemic across the state.”
