President Trump doesn't hold back on Twitter: "OBAMAGATE makes Watergate look small time!"

"The FBI coordinated very closely with the Obama White House on the investigation of Michael Flynn, while the Obama Justice Department was asleep at the switch. " [Read the full story from the National Review.]

The story of President Trump's alleged collusion with the Russian government continues to unravel ... and now, it's the work of the Obama Administration that's been called into question.

We'd bet that the mainstream media will under-report or mis-report (see the Meet the Press apology below) this update. So here's the essential reading:

  • How the popular narrative -- that is, the general public consensus -- came together, via National Review. This line is a sharp kicker: "You’d almost think the Obama White House and its intelligence apparatus was weaving a political narrative out of . . . nothing."

  • The thorough, well-documented timeline of the Obama Administration's involvement, going back to January 2017, via The Federalist. As the piece contends, "An analysis of the timeline from early 2017 shows a clear pattern of behavior from the federal officials running the collusion operation against the Trump campaign."

  • And the media outlets and reporters whom Trey Gowdy says helped to "peddle" the most outrageous claims from Democrats, via the Daily Wire.

Media gets called out for fake news attacking the Trump Administration again .... and again ... and again.

"NBC News’ 'Meet The Press' admitted late on Sunday that their segment earlier in the day on remarks made by Attorney General William Barr last week was false after host Chuck Todd was called out publicly by a spokesperson for the Department of Justice." [Read the full story from the Daily Wire.]

The media can't stop themselves from destroying their own credibility in their attempts to attack President Trump.

In just the past few days...

  • Meet the Press apologized for "inaccurately" clipping video of Attorney General Barr talking about the Flynn case (Daily Wire). Chuck Todd, the host, used the clip to launch into criticism of AG Barr -- criticism that doesn't stick when you watch the full, unedited video.

  • Jimmy Kimmel apologized for an edited video of Vice President Pence delivering PPE to a hospital (Fox News). The VP made a joke about carrying empty boxes to the hospital; edited video that Kimmel shared made it look as though he actually did.

Of course, the apology only came after Kimmel's original video slamming the VP went viral and was retweeted, without any corroboration, by NBC and New York Times reporters (National Review).

  • And 60 Minutes now faces criticism for its coverage of the Trump Administration's response to COVID-19 last night (Daily Wire). As President Trump tweeted last night, "@CBS and their show, @60Minutes, are doing everything within their power [...] to defend China and the horrible Virus pandemic that was inflicted on the USA and the rest of the World."

Watch this story: California will send ballots to all voters this year. Will more states follow?

"California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) announced Friday he has signed an executive order that requires county officials to send vote-by-mail ballots to every registered voter in the state." [Read the full story from The Hill.]

COVID-19 has changed every element of the 2020 campaign ... and now it may change how we vote in November, too.

All registered California voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot in November, due to concerns about COVID-19 (The Hill). California is the first state to commit to this change for the 2020 election; other states may follow soon, too.

The Republican National Committee is reportedly "reviewing its legal options" as this new voting system introduces new opportunities for voter fraud (Fox News). President Trump has also expressed this concern publicly.

Here's a helpful, thorough overview of the concerns about voting by mail -- and how states can implement the program the right way (Heritage Foundation).

Biden campaign announces new hires. Maybe that will slow the public criticism from Democratic strategists. (Our bet: probably not.)

"The hiring spree is a leading indicator that the campaign is shifting gears under its new campaign manager, Jen O’Malley Dillon, who assumed her new post just as the campaign shuttered its headquarters and its staff dispersed to work remotely amid the coronavirus scare." [Read the full story from POLITICO.]

Democrats seem increasingly concerned about the Biden campaign. He's (understandably) out of the public eye due to COVID-19, and the only consistent headlines he's generated recently are sexual assault allegations that threaten to turn younger and more progressive voters against him.

The campaign has announced major hiring efforts. It staffed up with a new director to oversee battleground states (POLITICO) and senior digital staff (Fox News).

But party strategists won't stop undercutting him publicly. It's under the guise of friendly campaign advice -- but it's public criticism in the New York Times. Last week, it was Obama alums David Axelrod and David Plouffe; this week, it's digital staffers from his primary opponents.

Bottom line: signs point to the Biden campaign being in trouble ahead of the 2020 election.
