Hello, I am Rey León. I'm the Mayor of the small town of Huron in the San Joaquin Valley. Places like Huron are essential to our state's economy, but now, more than ever, communities like ours need to invest in our public health, our schools, and critical local services. That's why I'm proud to support Schools & Communities First!
In the face of dangers of the coronavirus pandemic, farmworkers across the San Joaquin Valley keep showing up to work and proving they are essential. They don't expect special recognition. They want what we all want: for everyone to pay their fair share so we can invest in our public health and our schools.
The four poorest communities in California are right here in Fresno County.
Communities like Huron have been ignored for much too long and it is always due to the lack of investments in education, in health care, and in other critical services -- but this November we can change that!
That's why I'm proud to endorse Schools & Communities First. It's past time we prioritize our students and neighbors -- our essential communities. Every community across California, from small but mighty Huron to Los Angeles, would be able to invest resources into our public health services and education.
Let's work together so people across California learn about and support Schools & Communities First -- Will you commit to joining me in helping to grow this campaign?
Thank you for supporting Schools & Communities First. This campaign means so much to rural, often-overlooked communities like Huron, and if we work together, we will get this initiative passed in November!

The Schools & Communities First initiative reclaims $12 billion every year for California’s schools and local communities by closing commercial property tax loopholes benefiting a fraction of corporations and wealthy investors. The initiative benefits residents and small businesses by exempting homeowners and renters from any changes while implementing new tax relief for small businesses.
