Dear John,

Happy Mother's Day! Today we hope you’re able to celebrate the mothers who are
important to you in a meaningful way.

This Mother’s Day, we're also thinking of the women and girls around the world
affected by the global refugee crisis. Refugee mothers, like mothers everywhere,
are responsible for keeping their children healthy and safe. At the same time,
millions of refugee women experience gender-based violence. Providing assistance
to these women and girls during the pandemic has become ever more challenging
for HIAS staff around the world.

Displaced women and girls worldwide are in urgent need of critical aid. At HIAS,
we’re making sure they have access to all the support we can provide them in
this challenging time: remote guidance, support networks, and emergency cash
assistance that helps meet basic needs. We understand these are difficult times,
but if you’re in a position to give today, it would make a world of difference
for those who urgently need our support:

If you can, please make a gift of $18 or more right now in
honor of Mother’s Day to help support women, girls and other refugees in their
quest to build new lives free from violence and persecution.

I’ve seen how gender inequality, and now the stress of the pandemic, puts women
and girls at risk for physical and sexual violence. And I’ve seen how
devastating this violence can be. That’s why our teams are doing everything they
can to help, like providing phone- and Zoom-based mental health services,
creating safety plans for survivors of domestic abuse and empowering women with
critical information through social media. And for the thousands of refugees who
have lost their jobs and cannot afford water, food or hygiene products, we’re
offering cash assistance so they can meet their basic needs.

HIAS is fully committed to helping women, girls and other refugees build new
lives free from violence and oppression – but we can’t do this crucial work
alone. So if you can, please make a gift today:

In honor of Mother's Day, give $18 or more – anything you
can spare – to help us provide women, girls and other refugees with the critical
resources they need to remain healthy and safe as they rebuild their lives in
freedom.

ones are safe and well.
