Dear John:

We need you to do something right now to get emergency health care for everyone during this coronavirus pandemic. Monday is a major deadline in the fight to get the Health Care Emergency Guarantee Act passed.

Tell your member of Congress that we need a Health Care Emergency Guarantee!

More than 30 million people have filed for unemployment since the pandemic began, wiping out a decade of job gains. And even before the pandemic, 70 million people in the U.S. couldn’t get health care due to costs. That’s 100 million people left uncared for during the worst health crisis our nation has faced in a century.

During a crisis like this, our health depends on the health of the person next to us, and the people next to them. Saving our lives can’t be held hostage by greedy, profit-seeking corporations and their CEOs.

The Health Care Emergency Guarantee Act, introduced by Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Sen. Bernie Sanders, would guarantee health care, including prescription drugs, to everyone in the U.S. at no cost to individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This bill is a health care solution that meets the scale of this crisis, but Monday is the deadline for members of Congress to become original cosponsors of this bill.

Tell Congress that you demand that they pass the Health Care Emergency Guarantee Act.

Let’s take care of one another, and together we’ll get through this.

In solidarity,

Aija Nemer-Aanerud
People’s Action

P.S. People as individuals are doing so much to respond to this crisis–making masks, social distancing, and checking on their neighbors. We need our elected officials to show us they care as much as we do. Please contact your member of Congress now to tell them to support the Health Care Emergency Guarantee Act.
