ADDITIONAL SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES OPENING ON MAY 8TH

With Texans working together, we continue to safely open our economy while containing COVID-19.

This week we announced new guidance for even more businesses to safely open starting today, May 8th.

These openings include hair salons, barber shops, nail salons, tanning salons, and swimming pools. Health and safety remains our top priority, which is why these businesses can open so long as they follow minimum health protocols provided by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

Thanks to the efforts of Texans to contain COVID-19, we continue to unleash our entrepreneurs and responsibly open more businesses.

DETAILS ON GRADUATION CEREMONIES FOR TEXAS SCHOOL DISTRICTS

[link removed]

I want to congratulate all of Texas’ graduating high school seniors as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. Although this year’s graduation looks different due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to ensure that these graduates are able to celebrate this important milestone.

That is why the Texas Education Agency provided new guidance on 2020 graduation ceremonies for Texas school districts. There are four different ways for schools to celebrate their graduating seniors:

1. Completely virtual ceremonies

2. Hybrid ceremonies

3. Vehicle ceremonies

4. Outdoor in-person ceremonies

Each school district is at liberty to determine if any of these options best serve the needs and desires of their community.
