Illinois beer turned into 500 gallons of hand sanitizer
Beer distributor Lakeshore Beverage partnered with breweries across Illinois to donate over 15,000 gallons of expired beer to be made into hand sanitizer. The beer was turned over to Chicago’s Koval Distillery which produced 500 gallons of hand sanitizer that was donated to community organizations in need.
Crowdfund raises over $140K for service industry during COVID-19 crisis
Southern Eagle Distributing, a beer distributor in Georgia, and other partners came together with local crowdfunding platform Donate2it to raise $140,250 so far for Hospitality Workers Relief, Food Banks and Food Distributing. Southern Eagle says it’s their way of helping hospitality workers with groceries or a meal or two from a local restaurant.
The U.S. economy lost 20.5 million jobs in April, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is one of the fastest and most significant increases in the unemployment rate since the government began tracking the data in 1939.
