Dear Friend --
Now, more
than ever, we are working hard to ensure your voice is heard. Please
take a moment to show your support for Ohioans' ability to take action
against polluters by signing & sharing our
petition today!
Protecting Ohio's nuisance provision
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is trying to
eliminate Ohio’s nuisance provision.
The nuisance provision allows Ohio residents to take local
pollution problems into their own hands and protect their communities
by taking polluters to court.
Without this provision, it will be more difficult for Ohioans
to address local pollution problems. Eliminating this provision also
destroys an important tool that gives both regulators and Ohio
residents flexibility to address serious health concerns based on new
scientific developments.

Car Protest to Demand Utility Restoration
Last Wednesday, April 29 we participated in a car-based
protest that drew urgent attention to the families managing this
pandemic without basic utilities.
How can you wash your hands if you don't have water? How can
you homeschool your children without power or internet
service?
Activists from all over the city gathered downtown for a
short and socially-distant rally, followed by a protest
caravan around the Cleveland Public Power and Cleveland Public Water
buildings. More than 50 cars participated, honking horns and bearing
signs with a clear message: utilities are a human right.
Ohio Citizen Action and its allies in the End Poverty Now
Coalition are urging:
- immediate reconnection of utilities for any residents
currently without them;
- suspension of penalties and reconnection fees for the
duration of Ohio's state of emergency; and
- greater transparency on shutoffs occurring before and during
the pandemic.
Thanks for your continued support,
