The Vote

There's the level-headed, fair-minded media we're used to. Oh wait.

"I totally disagree with this editorial. I don’t want an investigation. I want a coronation of Joe Biden. Would he make a great president? Unlikely. Would he make a good president? Good enough. Would he make a better president than the present occupant? Absolutely. I don’t want justice, whatever that may be. I want a win, the removal of Donald Trump from office, and Mr. Biden is our best chance." [Read the full story from the Daily Wire.]

The New York Times published a letter to the editor from a former Times journalist and founder of Politico -- and it's a doozy. You can read it for yourself here from the Daily Wire. It's also quoted above.

It confirms what we've suspected some on the left are thinking: they're concerned about the sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden ... and their goal is to downplay or outright ignore them.

For cynical partisans on the left, this is the strategic choice; to the rest of us, it's a moral outrage and a shameless double standard.

But the allegations against Joe Biden still have the potential to up-end the 2020 election. As we shared yesterday (story from The Hill), a new poll found that 26% of Democratic voters and 40% of Democratic voters under 45 think Biden should be replaced as the presidential nominee.

Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders is back on the ballot in the New York Democratic primary...

For just $100,000, you can join Hillary Clinton on Zoom.

"On May 19, the former first lady and failed 2016 Democratic nominee will hold a

'virtual conversation' on the teleconferencing platform Zoom along with Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez. The event will raise money for the Biden Victory Fund, a joint committee of the DNC and the Biden campaign." [Read the full story from National Review.]

Hillary Clinton is joining a high-priced online fundraising event with the chair of the Democratic National Committee. Tickets start at $2,800 but quickly increase up a scale that ends at $50,000 and $100,000.

As National Review reported, this will be her first fundraiser for the Biden campaign.

There's no campaigning as usual this year.

"But the Trump and Biden campaigns are playing it safe, as is the Democratic National Committee, sticking with the virtual tools each developed once the coronavirus put rallies, town hall meetings, and grassroots organizing on ice." [Read the full story from the Washington Examiner.]

Although America is beginning to re-open, thanks to the leadership of President Trump and his Administration, don't expect to see presidential campaigning return to business as usual.

The Republican National Committee will reassess its strategy in a month, as the Washington Examiner reported. Until then, both major parties will be campaigning online, with new tools like live video calls and texting to connect with voters.

Far left group that helped AOC has now formed a super PAC.

"The new super PAC will operate alongside Justice Democrats PAC, a traditional PAC. But while the latter cannot collect donations in excess of $5,000 per election cycle, the new super PAC is free to collect unlimited sums from big-money donors, which runs counter to Justice Democrats' political platform and founding principles." [Read the full story from the Washington Free Beacon.]

Justice Democrats -- which the New York Times reported "helped make" Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez -- now has a super PAC. You'll recall that the left often demonizes super PACs and the role of money in politics ... but those supposed principles seem to have found their limit.

The next time a liberal complains about money in politics, please do share this story with 'em.

And, on a final note: as always, we wish for the health and safety of you, your family, and your community at this uncertain time. Stay safe and see you tomorrow!
