Salaam,

Last night, we came together for Million Muslim Votes: Finding the Way Forward to reflect on the difficult moment we are in, and to commit ourselves to turning out the Muslim vote, which will be critical and may determine the final outcome in November. This was reflected by the incredible line-up of speakers who addressed our community.

We heard from Vice Presidential Candidate, Governor Tim Walz, who said, "I know the pain of this community is deep. The scale of death and destruction in Gaza is staggering and devastating. Tens of thousands of innocent civilians killed, families fleeing for safety over and over again -- this war must end and it must end now."

Joining us from the state of Maryland, Senator Chris Van Hollen said, “We need a President who will apply human rights to all people. Every country around the world who receives security assistance from the U.S., must comply with international humanitarian law."

Other officials in attendance included Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, Congressman Ro Khanna, and former Congressman Andy Levin. They all spoke about the importance of getting out the vote, the need to prevent Trump from returning, and advancing our shared values by ensuring that a future Harris-Walz administration respects international law.

In endorsing Harris-Walz, we recognize the difficulty and urgency of this moment. Over the past eleven months, more than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed and millions have been displaced and face famine. We remain steadfast in our call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and de-escalation in the region, especially in Lebanon. As we move toward November, we recognize the threat that Donald Trump’s return to the White House would pose to Muslim Americans, our democracy, and the world.

At Emgage Action, we are committed to advocating for principled policies that uphold justice, human rights, and dignity - both here and abroad. In my remarks at the summit, I emphasized that the path forward requires us to stay engaged, demand better from our leaders, and to turn out in record numbers to prevent Trump’s dangerous brand of authoritarianism from taking hold once again.

While we may not agree with the Harris-Walz ticket on every issue, we must be honest that they offer the best opportunity to advance our priorities, including ending the war. We cannot afford the risk of a Trump presidency, which would further harm Muslim communities at home and abroad. That’s why we must mobilize and vote.

This election will define the future of Muslim Americans for generations to come. It is up to us to make our voices heard and advocate for the future we want to see.

Thank you for joining us and for your continued commitment to justice, peace, and civic engagement. Together, we will build a better future for our communities.
