Inclusion Canada Files Major Lawsuit in Canada

 

"A coalition of disability rights organizations and two personally affected individuals have filed a Charter challenge with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice... The coalition is urging the court to strike down Track 2 of Canada’s MAiD law, arguing that providing assisted death solely on the basis of disability is unconstitutional. They contend that MAiD should only be available to people whose natural death is reasonably foreseeable."

We support the efforts of Inclusion Canada and hope the government of Canada takes these challenges seriously and makes decisions that protect human dignity and protect people with disabilities from coercion and death.

Canada’s Assisted Death Rush is a Grim Warning

"There’s the danger of pressure from unscrupulous relatives or those who can’t bear the suffering of their loved one. The terminally ill patient may be frightened of becoming a burden on the family. Other frail and elderly people might also want to spare the overstretched NHS. The most vulnerable who need the greatest protection are likely to be the greatest victims of this."

"End Assisted Suicide" is the group of plaintiffs suing the state of California to overturn the Assisted Suicide law there. Our 501(c)(3) sister organization, the Institute for Patients' Rights, has joined this ground-breaking lawsuit as a plaintiff.
