Midnight deadline to help your local wildlife

We’ve never done this before. But these days, we’re all doing things a little
differently.

We’re joining a network of non-profits across the country for the first-ever #GivingTuesdayNow , a special global day of unity and generosity in the wake of the pandemic.

And as part of this new effort, we need to raise $50,000 before midnight tonight
to ensure we can continue our vital work for people and wildlife in communities
across America in the face of significant financial pressures we’re facing due
to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Will you be a good neighbor for wildlife and give whatever you can spare this

Speaking of “bee”ing a good neighbor, did you know that there are approximately
4,000 native bee species in North America and over 20,000 bee species worldwide?
Wild bees live on every continent except Antarctica, so it’s safe to say that
you’re likely to have bees as your neighbors no matter where you live.

We need bees for the survival of plants, wildlife, and people everywhere, from
our urban city ecosystems to our agricultural fields to our forests and
grasslands. But our tiny, indispensable neighbors are in trouble,
John: A shocking recent study found that global populations of bees and other insects
have declined by more than 25% over the last 30 years.

To reverse the disturbing decline of pollinators like our native bees, we must
reach our $50,000 goal by midnight tonight to continue supporting vital
conservation programs.

Can your local bees count on you to “bee” a good neighbor for wildlife today?

We’re working on multiple fronts to address the decline of our native bees,
John.

Our work includes advocating for policies that reduce the effects of habitat
destruction, disease, harmful agricultural and lawn practices, invasive species,
and climate change. And efforts like our Garden for Wildlife, Community Wildlife
Habitat, and Trees for Wildlife programs are helping address this decline on a
community and grassroots level.

This work, like so much of the work that we do, is potentially at risk due to
financial pressures imposed by the COVID-19 crisis. If we cannot close a gap in
our operating budget, programs like these that help wildlife and communities may
need to be scaled back, and it may take years for us to return to full capacity.
