Dear John,
Today is #GivingTuesdayNow, a day of giving and unity to support organizations like ours that are working tirelessly to help people around the world who are vulnerable to the coronavirus pandemic.
This global health crisis and a moratorium on resettlement have made it even more challenging for refugee families who are stuck in dangerously crowded camps – or who don't have a place to stay at all – to support and protect themselves. Social distancing is impossible in these conditions, leaving many refugees particularly susceptible to the spread of the virus.
HIAS is committed to helping refugees and asylum seekers around the world in their quest for safety and freedom, so we’ve set a goal to raise $50,000 by midnight to support our efforts to provide them with cash assistance, emotional support, and measures to keep women and girls safe from sexual and gender-based violence. We know this is a difficult time for so many people, but if you’re able to make a gift today, it would be invaluable to the refugees and asylum seekers relying on HIAS to get them through a period of unprecedented difficulty:

While the pandemic rages, HIAS is working around the clock to provide refugees who have lost their jobs with cash-based assistance – so they can afford the essential supplies they need most. We’re also working with local supermarkets and volunteer networks to help provide food to refugees. And for those who rely on our essential services such as legal aid or counseling, we’re reaching out to refugees to let them know we’re still here to help.
HIAS will always support the refugees and asylum seekers who need us most. Now more than ever, your support is tremendously helpful to the work we do. We hope you’ll help us continue this lifesaving work by pitching in today.
We’re beyond grateful for your support – thank you.
Sincerely,
