Grocery store beer sales wont make up for on-premise losses
According to National Beer Wholesalers Association Chief Economist Lester Jones, bar and restaurant closures will result in a loss of $8 billion for the beer industry if it continues into June. “We really need to step up our conversations and talk about how the loss here to the industry is significant,” Jones said. “It’s not going to be made up through grocery stores and 30-packs and cases people are stashing in their garages. It will not be compensated by those additional off-premise purchases.”
