#DCYRGivesHope Campaign Recap

Shortly after the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the DCYRs launched our #DCYRGivesHope Campaign: a fundraising effort to benefit those most affected by the local and regional lockdowns.

We asked our members to consider those in our local community who are at the highest risk: our Senior Citizens, and many of our members stepped up.

We are happy to report that the DCYRs successfully raised $1,245 to benefit at-risk senior citizens in the District of Columbia! All proceeds will go to Capital Caring Health, an organization that has been tirelessly reaching our isolated senior citizens, making sure they are fed and their medical needs are tended too.

We are incredibly thankful to those who contributed to this campaign and spread the word about this important effort. Thank you!

CALL TO ACTION: Make CA-25 Great Again

With the special election for California's 25th Congressional District to be held on May 12th, this is an important opportunity for Young Republicans across the country to play a critical role in what is expected to be a close race. According to the Cook Political Report, CA-25's Partisan Voting Index (PVI) is rated as an EVEN seat, meaning this is a race where every vote counts!

YRNF Chair Rick Loughery has designated Saturday, May 9th, as a Young Republican National Day of Action.  We are looking for at least 5 volunteers (though more are encouraged) from the DCYRs to conduct online phone bank beginning at 2pm eastern. Also worth noting: the top 3 states/territories who make the most voter contacts on this national day of action will receive a special social-distancing approved gift!

Let's come together as a chapter and join in a nationwide effort to help push Republican Mike Garcia across the finish line to flip a blue House seat to red!
DCYR Live Events Postponed through May:

At the onset of this public health emergency, Young Republican National Federation Chair Rick Loughery announced that all YR in-person meetings will be cancelled for the foreseeable future. We have been in contact with our friends at YRNF and we will be continuing to put a hold on any in-person meetings, in accordance with local and national emergency orders. Therefore, will not be holding an in-person meeting this month.

We are sad that our YR community will not be reunited as soon as we hoped, but fear not! Our DCYR Executive Board is currently planning ways to remain in touch. There will be more programming in the coming weeks.

Both YRNF, and our regional-sister chapters, have stepped up to the plate to provide programing so we all are able to stay connected. Be on the lookout for more #YRNFLive virtual events as well!
