On today’s National Voter Registration Day, we’re asking all Common Cause members to check their voter registration status.

Our right to choose our leaders is one of the most important rights that our democracy affords us – and our nation depends on engaged voters speaking up at the ballot box.

With Election Day rapidly approaching, take these three quick actions RIGHT NOW to ensure that your voice is heard this fall:

#1 - Check your voter registration status. Every state has different voter registration requirements and deadlines – and some states even remove voters from the rolls if they haven’t voted in a while. Check your registration status now at commoncause.org/verify and avoid any unfortunate surprises on Election Day. (This tool will also tell you what steps to take if your registration isn’t listed!)

#2 - Share our free voter registration tools with your friends and family. Our online tools let you check your registration status, register to vote, and request an absentee ballot at commoncause.org/vote. Share this link on Facebook, on Twitter, and with your friends and family – including anyone who will be 18 years old on Election Day. And forward this email to 3 friends!

#3 - Volunteer for Election Protection. Many voters still face challenges at their polling places. With our partners, we’ll place thousands of nonpartisan volunteer poll monitors across the country this Election Day. Join us – volunteers will serve as a first line of defense and assistance for voters. Learn more and sign up now at protectthevote.net.

It won’t take more than 5 minutes – but by checking your registration status and forwarding this email to at least 3 friends today, you’ll make a BIG difference when Election Day rolls around.
