Since 2013, a slew of anti-voter bills has passed in Deep South states that continue to disproportionately disenfranchise, undermine and criminalize Black and Brown voters. Our campaign, The South’s Got Now | Decidimos, builds power among young voters of color. An estimated 41 million members of Gen Z will be eligible to vote this year, making them a powerful voting bloc this upcoming November. The South’s Got Now | Decidimos seeks to motivate young individuals to not only register to vote, but also to encourage civic advocacy in local and state issues. By publishing voter guides and other useful resources, we can help them make informed decisions this November and beyond. Young people face many obstacles to voting, but they have the power to determine the fate of the country, as they have throughout our history. The importance of our votes cannot be taken for granted, and we will not stand idly by as the far right attempts to undo our democracy. On this National Voter Registration Day, we are honoring those before us who fought for our fundamental rights and those working today to ensure that everyone, regardless of race, faith, gender, economic background or sexual orientation is granted access to the ballot box.
