30 years ago today, President Clinton signed the federal assault weapons ban into law.

20 years ago today, our elected officials let that ban expire.

Today, my generation has become known as the school shooting generation.

We live in a world where assault weapons rule the streets.

We live in a world torn apart by endless mass shootings.

We live in a world where no school, no community, and no one is safe.

Because, since the assault weapons ban lapsed, thousands of innocent lives have been stolen by these weapons of war.

These slaughters are entirely preventable – but too many politicians would rather take the gun lobby’s blood money than fight for meaningful change.

First, beloved President Biden FOUGHT in the Senate for the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban.

Now, Kamala Harris is VOWING to carry on his legacy and pass another federal assault weapons ban if she’s elected in November.

But there are a lot of politicians standing in our way – and Republicans even BLOCKED a vote on a national assault weapons ban last year, clearing the way for more than 385 mass shootings in 2024.

So if they won’t change the gun laws in Washington, DC, then we are going to change the government and elect young leaders who will.
