Launching the Texas Prenatal to Three (PN-3) Collaborative!

We're excited to join with our colleagues at TexProtects and Children at Risk to announce the Texas PN-3 Collaborative ([link removed])!

With over 100 partner organizations around the state and the generous support of the Pritzker Children's Initiative, the Collaborative is working with the Legislature and other state leaders to improve support for babies, toddlers, new moms, and other parents of young kids.

Some of the key policy goals, which have become even more urgent amid coronavirus and the recession, include:

Reducing the uninsured rate for kids and moms and improving access to health care;

Screening and connecting babies, toddlers, and their parents to key supports, such as Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) and home visiting; and

Boosting access to high-quality child care.

By supporting Texas kids during the critical early years of brain development, these policies will give children a strong foundation for growing up healthy, arriving at school ready to learn, and reaching their potential.

We Have a New Staff Member on Our Team

We're thrilled that L'Aunjanee "Lee" Carriere has joined our team as our new Policy Coordinator! L'Aunjanee will be providing support to our policy team, coordinating policy events, monitoring legislative developments, and helping coordinate the Hogg Foundation Mental Health Policy Academy.

Before joining our staff, L'Aunjanee worked for Rep. Ray Lopez at the Legislature during the 2019 session, interned in Congress, and served in a variety of community and leadership roles.

While we're all social distancing, it will take a little while before she can meet many of you in person, but feel free to email her at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) to say hello.

Support Texas Kids and Families on Giving Tuesday

As we continue to battle this pandemic, we need to rally together to help our fellow Texans, both with direct support and with better public policies.

Next week, on May 5th, Texans across the state will be stepping up to help as part of #GivingTuesdayNow.

As you think about your plan for Tuesday, please consider supporting Texans Care for Children — or one of the other nonprofits working to hold our communities together through these difficult times.
