I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has diligently adhered to social distancing guidelines over the past few weeks. I know it is a lonely, anxiety-ridden time, but it’s clear that our efforts are working: Many states are showing promising signs of flattening the curve and reducing hospitalizations.

These positive trends are no thanks to President Trump and his Republican allies who are ignoring the advice of medical professionals and want the country to “open up.”

Make no mistake: Going against health experts’ warnings could cost thousands of people their lives. We are lucky to have governors like Gina Raimondo here in Rhode Island who listen to experts to ensure we aren’t putting Americans in harm’s way.

Democrats are working to contain this crisis, despite the lack of leadership from President Trump, Senate Republicans, and many Republican governors who refuse to take it seriously. This makes our mission to elect Democrats to all levels of government this November that much more important →
