Hi  John,

The Freethought Equality Fund[[link removed]] has endorsed Nancy Goroff (NY-1)[[link removed]], who could become the first newly elected nontheist to Congress. Last evening we held a virtual meet-and-greet with her for our community. In addition to our endorsement, Goroff has the support of Emily's List and 314 Action, and she has raised over a million dollars for her campaign. Goroff is in a competitive four person Democratic primary on June 23 and then would take on the Republican incumbent, Lee Zeldin.
Zeldin was a member of Trump's impeachment defense team and narrowly won re-election in 2018 with just 51.5% of the vote. A short bio of Dr. Goroff is below, as is a link to support her campaign. Please be as generous as you can.[[link removed]]

Nancy Goroff[[link removed]] is running for Congress in the New York 1st Congressional District. For the past twenty-two years, Goroff has taught at Stony Brook University and for the past two and a half years she has served as chair of the Chemistry Department. She will bring her academic training and experience to Congress to “trust the facts, find solutions, and work with everyone with good ideas.” Her policy priorities include: taking action to address the climate crisis, expanding access to quality affordable health
care, defending reproductive rights, amending the Civil Rights Act to protect the rights of the LGBTQ community, developing innovate and good paying jobs in her district, and passing common sense gun legislation to end gun violence. Goroff identifies as a secular Jew.
