Jack xxxxxx,

Yesterday, Governor Abbott announced his plans to reopen Texas starting at the end of this week. This decision is coming too soon, and it shows that Abbott values the Texas economy over Texans.

We have lagged behind almost every other state when it comes to testing, and the death rate is still climbing across Texas. Now is not the time to bend to political pressure by prematurely opening our state back up.

While we all want to support our economy and get back to work, we should begin opening up the economy as soon as medical experts tell us it is safe to do so, testing is widely available, and we have a solid plan to do so safely and effectively.

I believe the best course of action is to lean toward caution, because if we get this wrong, the consequence is death. Ensuring Texans have access to adequate testing can reduce the risk to all of us.

I’m with you in this battle,

Kim Olson
