Every member of the Squad knows how the effects of climate change and
environmental injustice intersect with race, gender, and economic
opportunity. The climate crisis is not a faraway threat: It’s knocking on
the door of frontline communities, disproportionately affecting
working-class people, Black and Brown communities, and immigrant families.
Our Squad fought hard to tackle climate change in the last Congress —
funding up to nine million clean energy jobs, reducing carbon emissions,
and cutting utility costs.
But we’ve still got work to do to address racial injustices, health
inequities, and affordability issues related to the climate crisis.
