Let's start with the best news first.

"Pence concluded by offering an optimistic perspective on when the pandemic could largely be in the rear view mirror: Because, as we track this data state by state, county by county, we’re getting there, Rush. And I truly do believe … I truly do believe, if current trend lines hold, that by early June we could largely have this coronavirus epidemic behind us, and begin to see our nation open back up and go back to work." [Read the full story from the Daily Wire.]

It's not a promise. It's not a guarantee. But it is deeply encouraging news that Vice President Pence said if (a big if!) current trends continue, in June our great nation could begin the return to whatever our new normal might be.

President Trump and his Administration have worked tirelessly to protect the American people in these uncertain times.

We highly recommend you watch the daily press conference from the White House on TV, on social media, or on the White House website at WhiteHouse.gov/live. Today's briefing is scheduled for 5pm Eastern.

Let's hope this is the first good news of much more to come!

And then we'll move onto some fake news.

"Former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday at an online fundraiser predicted that President Trump would try to push back November's general election because the president thinks that is the 'only way he can possibly win.'" [Read the full story from The Hill.]

Joe Biden really said it, but reasonable people like you (and us!) don't think this will happen. In a wide-ranging discussion during an online fundraiser, Biden claimed that President Trump will reschedule the November 2020 election.

We won't even attempt to dignify this outlandish theory about President Trump with a funny quip.

We think we know one name Joe Biden's VP committee will take off its list.

"On Tuesday the Whitmer administration terminated a door-to-door pandemic tracing contract awarded to Great Lakes Community Engagement, an organization led by Kolehouse, just one day after its announcement. Within 24 hours of the cancellation, Kolehouse, who was set to take in nearly $200,000 in the deal, took down the website for his consulting firm, K2K strategies, as well as his Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts." [Read the full story from the Washington Free Beacon.]

Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan had been floated as a possible running mate for Joe Biden. (You'll remember, as we shared on Wednesday, he is forming a committee that will recommend Vice President picks to him by July 1.)

But after making headlines for her very stringent rules for Michigan businesses, she's in the news again -- this time for a government contract related to the state's COVID-19 response that went to a Democratic consultant.

There's still a lot of questions about the contract that some news organizations say they'll pursue. For now, the contract has been canceled and the consultant in question seems to have deleted his online presence, as the Washington Free Beacon reported.

We'll hazard a guess that this will not improve the VP selection committee's opinion.

And, before the weekend, don't update your TV queue without reading this.

"I was not involved in the production. I asked, I tried, and recently I read from one of the producers that they very much did not want to talk to any family member because, why confuse yourself [with] the facts, when you already have your mind made up of exactly how you’re going to portray Phyllis Schlafly." [Read the full story from The Daily Signal.]

You've likely seen talk about Hulu's Mrs. America, a miniseries that follows conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly during her now-famous response to the Equal Rights Amendment. It's beautifully filmed and well-acted (if we do offer our thoughts as TV critics!) with Cate Blanchett and Rose Byrne in the main roles.

But The Daily Signal invited Anne Schlafly Cori, Mrs. Schlafly's daughter, for an interview ... and, unsurprisingly, she says there are many things that the series got wrong! Check out her full interview here before you queue up Mrs. America this weekend.

And, on a final note: as always, we wish for the health and safety of you, your family, and your community at this uncertain time. Stay safe and we'll see you on Monday!
