Recently, I released my final ad in our race against Wesley Bell, our
AIPAC-backed opponent. I wanted to use this final ad to give a platform to
Michael Brown’s family to share their continued pursuit for accountability
for their son’s death. My opponent made them promises and when he was
elected, he broke them. But we can’t stop fighting for Michael Brown.

On August 9, 2014, Mike Brown was killed by a white police officer in
Ferguson, MO, sparking a national movement to protect Black lives. As an
ordained pastor and registered nurse, I was on the front lines, caring for
injured protesters and bridging divides within our community. For more
than 400 days, I stood with Michael Brown Jr.'s parents. And took their
fight to Congress to demand systemic change.
Wesley Bell promised he would bring justice for Michael Brown Sr. and his
family. Bell never did, leaving the entire Brown family feeling more than
disappointed; they feel lied to.

Wesley was also elected by the people of St. Louis because he promised to
reform the Prosecutor’s office. He failed, increasing the incarceration of
Black women. Now, as AIPAC and Bell’s Republican megadonors are spending
millions of dollars spreading Bell’s lies, I wanted to give Michael
Brown’s family the opportunity to set the record straight.
Our new TV spot, featuring Michael Brown Sr. and his daughter, gives a
voice to those most harmed by Bell’s lies. I was elected to be St. Louis’
Congresswoman to give a platform to those hurt by our broken systems. By
supporting this spot, we can continue to be a voice for justice and give
St. Louis the platform it deserves.
With just over a week until Election Day, Bell is attempting to sell out
St. Louis, as he lies about his record as a prosecutor, his time in
Ferguson, and what people who are truly seeking justice have been able to
accomplish in St. Louis, without his help. We must show that AIPAC and
their right-wing megadonors cannot buy a Congressional seat in St. Louis.
