Dear Friend:

The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing and protecting a woman’s right to vote. While this historic milestone ought to be celebrated, we still have work to do -- even 100 years later. Alice Paul said it best at its time of passage in 1920:

"It is incredible to me that any woman should consider the fight for full equality won. It has just begun."

We’re lucky to have so many amazing women in Washington state choose to enter public service and continue the fight for full equality and representation.

Women like Governor Chris Gregoire, Congresswoman Kim Schrier, State Auditor Pat McCarthy, Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards, State Supreme Court Justice Faith Ireland, Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Judi Billings, and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Terry Bergeson to name a few.

I am proud to have the endorsement of the outstanding public servants mentioned above. I am even more proud of the work they are doing to ensure that future female leaders, like my granddaughter Maleah, grow up in a fairer and more equitable world, with strong role models to emulate.

I promise to continue to advocate for and advance gender equity issues as Lt. Governor.

Gratefully,

Denny
