Trump's Washington D.C. hotel – whose landlord is the Trump administration – wants a break on its rent because of loss of business due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is a blatant conflict of interest and a frankly ridiculous request.
Trump is pushing for states to reopen businesses, even as the number of reported coronavirus cases continues to rise in many communities. Scientists and doctors agree that any rollback of social distancing guidelines would put our work to flatten the curve at risk.
Trump is willing to sacrifice American lives in order to reopen the economy – and save his own hotel business.
We will not be giving taxpayer dollars to bail out Trump’s family business. Period. And we cannot put American lives on the line for a bump in the stock market.
