No wonder the "elites" hate President Trump so much: he stands up for everyday Americans without apology. "Harvard University has the largest endowment of any university in the world at $40.9 billion. Thus they can easily handle any economic issues that arise for them in consequence of the coronavirus. But they sought and were granted $9 million under the financial stimulus measure known as the CARES Act." [Read the full story from Lifezette.] Harvard University is top-ranked in more ways than one: its $40.9 billion (yes, that's $40,900,000,000) endowment is the largest of any university in the world, as Lifezette reported.
That endowment could be used to help Harvard weather the COVID-19 crisis ... but instead, the university shamelessly accepted $9,000,000 from the coronavirus relief package intended to rescue small businesses.
When President Trump was asked about this issue, he said what many Americans were thinking: "Harvard's going to pay back the money. They shouldn’t be taking it. When I saw Harvard -- they have one of the largest endowments anywhere in the country, maybe the world. They're going to pay back the money."
One major part of President Trump's legacy: his many appointments to the federal judiciary. "Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Tuesday that Republicans will keep trying to confirm President Trump's judicial nominees once the chamber returns to Washington, despite the coronavirus pandemic." [Read the full story from The Hill.] President Trump has had more than 190 of his federal judge selections confirmed by the U.S. Senate since his election. That means Americans benefit from more than 190 federal judges who respect the Constitution, the rule of law, and Americans' fundamental rights.
The U.S. Senate will continue to consider -- and very likely confirm -- President Trump's judicial nominees when it reconvenes. That means President Trump's legacy will continue to grow and have an effect on the federal judiciary bench for many years to come.
Perhaps it's no surprise that Joe Biden intends to lead by committee. "Former Vice President Joe Biden said he plans to announce the members of a selection committee who will help choose his running mate by May 1 as speculation continues to mount over his vice presidential pick." [Read the full story from The Hill.] The headline intrigued us until we read it again: Joe Biden is forming a committee to recommend a Vice Presidential pick, rather than announcing his own selection, by May 1.
The goal is for the committee to pick a "top three" list for him by July -- about a month ahead of the Democratic National Convention, rescheduled for August.
If this is a preview of his leadership style, it's certainly a contrast to President Trump, who acts decisively and directly.
And because we always need some lightheartedness... "In interview after interview, the presumptive Democratic nominee is forced to check his notes as he searches for answers." [Read the full story from the Washington Free-Beacon.] You'll likely find this video from the Washington Free Beacon amusing. As the title promises, it truly is just one minute of Joe Biden visibly looking through his notes on live TV.
And, on a final note, with all joking aside: as always, we wish for the health and safety of you, your family, and your community at this uncertain time. Stay safe and we'll see you on Friday!
