John, it’s no secret, and gun safety activists like you knew this already:
When guns are everywhere, everyone is at risk—even a former President. We don’t know the motive yet behind this frightening assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but it’s clear that when tensions are high, guns add fuel to the fire.
And here’s the really terrifying thing. Every day 120 people die from gun violence , and most shootings don’t make the news.
We deserve safety too.
We don’t have Secret Service snipers protecting us when we’re at school, grocery stores, movie theaters, malls, music festivals, or places of worship. But that doesn’t make us any less deserving of the safety to live without fear of gun violence.
We’re only going to get that by electing lawmakers and leaders who are going to pass critical gun safety legislation.
Let this moment be a stark reminder of the work that we have ahead of us. Trump, J.D. Vance, and the rest of the far-right’s violence enablers aren’t going to take this moment to pass gun safety legislation ( although they really really should 🙄). Instead, the RNC is raffling off assault weapons.
We’re going to have to keep fighting. And we need you in the fight with us. Thanks for supporting the movement.
