NEW MEXICO SUPREME COURT RULES UNANIMOUSLY IN FAVOR OF REPUBLICANS IN ELECTION LAWSUIT
The New Mexico Supreme Court this past week decided against a petition to hold an all vote-by-mail (VBM) election. RPNM had filed a counter lawsuit, arguing that that process would lead to fraud and that mail-in absentee ballots offered legal protections against fraud and other violations. RPNM is pleased it successfully made the case that existing law allows for the use of absentee ballots, while keeping voters and poll workers safe from COVID-19 and taking reasonable steps to preserve the integrity of the process. The health and safety of all are most important.
“This decision by the Court ensures that the health and safety of every voter and worker is protected, while making sure that our election will not be susceptible to fraud,” said RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce. “We are pleased that the Justices recognized this and that we can proceed with a fair and free election in a safe environment.”
The High Court also agreed with the Party that the judiciary cannot change election law, something that's the responsibility of the legislative branch of state government.

GOVERNOR'S REFUSAL TO REBUKE SPOKESMAN'S "DEATH CULT" TWEET MAKES IT HER WORDS
This past week Gov. Lujan Grisham's Communications Director sent out this disgusting tweet, calling Republicans a "death cult," insinuating we want to sicken and kill more New Mexicans by opening up businesses.
Here's the revolting tweet:

|
RPNM demanded an apology from Spokesman Tripp Stelnicki.
Silence.
RPNM waited for any kind of discipline or action from Gov. Lujan Grisham.
Silence.
The governor's decision not to address Stelnicki's horrifying tweet makes the tweet hers. His reckless words became her words: his message--her message, his slander--her slander.
The despicable statement suggesting Republicans are encouraging death comes after we called on the governor to responsibly open small businesses, which is the heartbeat of our economy. We pointed out that Lujan Grisham is putting big box stores and national chains ahead of the thousands of locally-owned mom and pop stores that she shut down. We suggested responsible social distancing can work in small establishments (it's not at big box stores).
The tweet from Stelnicki is not only insensitive, but untrue. Republicans have always put health and safety first in this pandemic. We, in fact, pointed out that shoppers are far more likely to be exposed to the COVID-19 in the mass of shoppers in the big box stores than they would in a small business. To put out such a false tweet is irresponsible and the governor now speaks those words.

GOV. LUJAN GRISHAM'S COVID-19 POLICIES HAVING DEADLY CONSEQUENCES AT SOME HOSPITALS THAT CANNOT NOW ADDRESS OTHER PATIENT CARE
Gov. Lujan Grisham’s essential-non-essential policies are impacting our hospitals, particularly our rural facilities. People who need hospital care other than for COVID-19 are sometimes dying. At some hospitals people cannot be admitted if they have a fever. Heart attack victims can’t get the care they need. Hospitals are cutting hours and furloughing employees. Governor, you need to have more flexibility and think this through. In particular, rural hospitals are being hurt so badly, they may never recover. Policies for hospitals need to be changed and allow for all patient care.

ALBUQUERQUE GUN STORE SHUT DOWN BY STATE POLICE
State Police closed down Calibers, an Albuquerque gun store, this past week after owner Louie Sanchez defied the goveror's order to close such establishments as "non essential."
“It’s amazing how the Governor is picking ‘winners and losers’ as small businesses are closed all over the state and thousands of people are now unemployed,” Sanchez pointed out. He's right.
The governor has no real sensible plan to address the business crisis here that's collapsing our economy. The federal government has even deemed such stores "essential." And yes, they are because everyone has a right to protect themselves, and these stores provide ammunition and repairs. Do we live in a totalitarian society in New Mexico? Where have our rights gone?

Something is just not right! As the New Mexico 2020 legislative session came to a close, I realized I could not continue to sit back, do nothing, and then hate the result. Tax and spend, tax and spend is a broken strategy that has run our state into the ground. We can do better than abortion on demand, a failed education system, a misguided Red Flag Bill, rising crime and homelessness, and an attempt to eliminate three forms of voter identification. Something is just not right! We can do better and we will. We need a net gain of six to take a Republican majority in the Senate. My plan is to be one of those six.
