July 4th weekend is historically one of the nation’s deadliest days and this year was no exception.

John,

Over the holiday weekend, while communities across the country spent time with loved ones, a massive uptick in shootings also occurred. July 4th is historically one of the nation’s deadliest days and this year was no exception.

In Chicago, more than 100 people were shot; at least 33 are dead.

In Detroit, two people were killed and at least 19 were injured after a shooting at a block party, all of whom were teenagers and young people under 30.

In Philadelphia, a mass shooting left 8 people injured and killed one person.

In just the last 72 hours, there have been over 275 instances of gun violence.

This past weekend is a stark reminder of just how pervasive and deadly this epidemic is. Every summer we see the rates of mass shootings and everyday gun violence rise.

We mourn, but our leaders quickly move on, leaving behind families and communities whose lives will never be the same. This is unacceptable. Enough is enough.

Gun violence isn’t going to go away on its own. As the summer continues, gun violence will continue to skyrocket.

That makes our work that much more critical. We’re not going to stand by as our leaders continue to let communities be torn apart. Donate $10 to help us in this fight.
