Folks, it’s a holiday weekend — so if you’re here checking your email, I hope it’s not for long. While I have you, let me share an important thought relevant to the 4th of July (and “National Hot Dog Month,” which it currently is): A hot dog is not a sandwich.

My campaign team asked me this question back in 2018 (why, I may never know), and while I had never thought about it before, I knew immediately where I stood. That long bun is not the same as a sandwich!

You might wonder why I’m emailing you about this, to which I say… 

Look, we’ve got a lot of serious issues in our country. The stakes of these elections are sky-high, and we’re all working incredibly hard. And at the same time, if we don’t make time to smile with each other every now and then, it’s going to be a heck of a lot harder to sustain all that hard work.
