 John, As we near the end of Pride month, I hope you’ve been able to take part in a parade or other fun event to mark the occasion. Rachel and I joined LA Pride, and as always, it was a joyous celebration of the love, beauty, and diversity the LGBTQ+ community brings to CA every single day.
Pride is when we celebrate our LGBTQ+ community. But it’s more than a celebration. It’s solidarity. During Pride, we reaffirm our support and acceptance of our trans and gender queer siblings. We are one Los Angeles, and all are welcome. With the continued right-wing assault on the trans community, and an uptick in overall anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment, it’s on all of us to step up and defend the rights of our neighbors and friends in the LGBTQ+ community. You have my word that in Congress, I’ll do everything in my power to do just that. I’m in awe of the courage that the LGBTQ+ community shows every day by living their authentic lives. As Pride month draws to a close, please take a moment to join me in reflecting on the richness and diversity that the LGBTQ+ community brings to our world. In solidarity, Laura
