Friends,

Tonight marks one of the most important days of my life. In front of family and friends, my then-fiance Paula and I looked into each other’s eyes and said two small words that have had a bigger impact on our lives than we could have ever possibly imagined.

“I do.”

Since our wedding 44 years ago, much has changed in our lives. The birth of our two children and our grandchild, me becoming an elected official, Paula retiring from her job as a principal, just to name a few. Throughout life’s many ups and downs, Paula and I have maintained the commitment we made to each other that day to love and cherish each other. I take this commitment seriously, just as I take every commitment.

The world has increasingly taken commitments lightly. Far too many people are quick to say “I’m all in” without thinking through what that actually means. Promises are made enthusiastically at first, but as time passes, those commitments can wane.

Commitment is being “all in” even when it is hard, and deciding to stick with it when the results are less than anticipated. That is why I only make commitments that I intend to see through, and why I mean it when I say I am committed to being Washington State’s next Lt. Governor and will fight for ALL the people of our great state.

I look forward to making my case to you over the coming months as to why I should be Washington's next Lt. Governor, and proving my commitment to the people of this state. Tonight, Paula and I are going to take some time to celebrate the commitment we made to each other all those years ago.

Sincerely,

Denny Heck
