Some encouraging news: President Trump starts to talk with governors about re-opening America.

"On Thursday, President Donald Trump reportedly told governors across the nation that they may choose to re-open their state economy before May 1. 'You’re going to call your own shots,' President Trump told the governors on a collective phone call, The New York Times reported after reviewing audio of the call." [Read the full story from the Daily Wire.]

We all welcome good news when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic, and President Trump's encouragement to governors to open up their states (when they're ready) is a positive sign.

Some states have formed coalitions to work together to coordinate coronavirus response and re-opening measures. Others will be able to move forward independently.

But all Americans can be heartened to hear that our public discussion will now turn toward how to safely re-open our country. We can all be grateful for President Trump's decisive leadership in these uncertain times and for America's progress -- and the world's progress! -- in the fight against COVID-19.

Check out President Trump's three-part plan to re-open our country.

"President Donald Trump on Thursday announced a cautious, three-phase approach—one that still gives wide latitude to governors—for reopening the shuttered economy in states that have had low rates of transmission of COVID-19." [Read the full story from The Daily Signal.]

President Trump continues to consult the country's public health experts to lay out clear, effective plans for the American people.

His Administration has released a three-part plan for how states can begin to re-open while keeping all of us safe. This provides a systematic framework for governors to consider as they choose the next best steps for their states.

Check out this review and analysis of President Trump's plan from The Daily Signal. It's well worth your time.

We can't believe we have to say this again.

"Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden told CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Sanjay Gupta on Thursday night that the U.S. federal government’s economic recovery package was an 'opportunity' to 'fundamentally change the science relating to global warming.'" [Read the full story from the Daily Wire.]

We can't believe we have to say this again, but the COVID-19 pandemic is not an "opportunity" for any political agenda. It's a national challenge that all Americans should unite to face together.

Unfortunately, not everyone in the political process sees it that way -- including, it seems, Joe Biden. As the infamous quote from Rahm Emanuel went, "Never let a crisis go to waste." And, following suit, Biden made the case for how COVID-19 can be an "opportunity" to "fundamentally change the science" on global warming.

That follows a similar pattern of thinking on the left that led to shameful perks to politically connected special interests tucked into coronavirus emergency relief legislation. It's time for our politicians to focus on protecting the American people, just like the Trump Administration has done every day in these uncertain times.

Administration team, assemble! Biden confirms he has a presidential transition team in place.

"Speaking at a digital fundraiser hosted by Jed Katz, the managing director of Javelin Partners, Biden said he first started putting together a transition team shortly after his string of primary victories on Super Tuesday in early March." [Read the full story from The Hill.]

Although even Joe Biden acknowledged it sounds presumptuous, it's normal practice for presidential candidates to start drawing up plans for their administrations far in advance.

Biden confirmed that he's working on transition plans should he win the 2020 election, and he emphasized that he'd consider appointing Republicans to posts, too. That seems to indicate he's moving from the far left talking points he tried in the primary to a more conciliatory tone in the general election. We'll see how it plays out.

And, on a final note: as always, we wish for the health and safety of you, your family, and your community at this uncertain time. Stay safe and we'll see you on Monday!
