John,
Anyone who doesn't believe we are in the midst of a gun violence epidemic either isn't paying attention or is willfully ignorant. And apparently that includes several judges on the Supreme Court.
We’re less than six full months into 2024 and have already seen 230 mass shootings in this country. At this current pace, more than 1,000 teenagers will be killed by gun violence for the fifth straight year. Yet this court’s ruling to reverse the ban on bump stocks – in effect, deciding the
Trump Administration was too tough on gun safety – will only put more vulnerable people at risk.
The bottom line is we have work to do at the federal level to save lives. That includes universal background checks, permit-to-purchase, safe storage, and an outright ban on assault tools like bump stocks. And in Congress, I will fight to ensure each of those efforts is victorious.
I'm ready to take on the gun lobby on all levels in Congress, but I need your support to get there. Will you chip in a contribution to help prepare me for the work ahead?
It wasn't long ago that I cast the deciding vote on an ordinance in the Glendale City Council to ban gun shows on public property in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting. Our city was threatened with legal action and faced the full weight of the NRA, but we held strong and won.
I've fought for safer gun laws at both the state and local level. I know these policies can take years to enact, but they are worth fighting for and it's going to take leaders with backbone if we’re going to make similar progress in Washington.
That’s one of the reasons I’m running, and with your support we can win these fights. Chip in $3 or more to our campaign. Every dollar helps get me to Congress where I’ll fight like hell to keep our communities safe.
