John,

In Oregon, we've worked to expand easy access to voting: residents are automatically registered to vote when we get our driver's licenses, and we have statewide vote-by-mail. That's right: no polling places! Vote at home and drop your ballot in the mail or drop boxes. As a direct result, Oregon has high voter satisfaction - and higher voter turnout!

If democracy is to prevail amidst this pandemic, we need to move to immediate, national vote-by-mail through the November elections. I'm working with leaders across the country to make this happen, and have called for action at every level of government in a USA Today op-ed.

"Democratic leaders: Act now to protect voting this year amid coronavirus crisis" - USA Today

It's time that the rest of the nation followed Oregon's lead - sign the petition to call for vote-by-mail in every state!

No American should be forced to choose between exercising their constitutional right to vote and putting their health at risk. This applies to everyone, but especially high-risk individuals, older voters, and frontline workers and care providers who simply can't leave work to stand in long lines at polling places.

Congress should give all Americans the option to vote by mail - and it should help states with the costs.
