At the start of the month, we wrote to you about how our part-time senator attempted to portray himself as an LGBTQ+ ally — even though we know the opposite to be true, John.
Clearly Ted got tired of pretending to be a fake ally. Last week, Cruz was asked by reporters from The New Republic about his plans to celebrate Pride. His answer was a doozy: 🙃
“I’m proud of every American.” — we’re assuming Ted was trying to be punny here.“That’s none of your damn business.” — Ted when asked if his friends or family celebrate Pride.
John, since he was elected, Ted Cruz has worked to erode rights and protections for the LGBTQ+ community left and right, and we aren't fooled by his fake allyship.
It's simple: bigots don't belong in the Senate — or any elected office for that matter. So this Pride Month, can you pitch in $5 to elect a senator who will fight for ALL Texans?
Just as a reminder, this is the same senator who:
- Voted against the Respect for Marriage Act — which codified same-sex marriage nationally.
- Stated that the landmark 2015 Supreme Court decision granting marriage equality was "even worse" than the Court decision in the 1850s that upheld slavery.
- Complained about the Dallas mayor for allowing a Pride parade.1
Our part-time senator has made a career of rolling back hard-fought progress we’ve made on LGBTQ+ rights. But we’re not letting bigots like Ted stop us. Instead, we’re doing everything in our power to fire him this November.
