Dear John,

I wanted to make sure you saw our op-ed in the San Antonio Express-News on the need for Texas leaders to take additional steps to support child care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We pointed out that state leaders have taken important first steps to address child care.

But we also emphasized that additional work is needed to ensure that child care providers can continue to support frontline workers during the pandemic. And we underscored that for the Texas economy to recover, policymakers must ensure there is a strong, healthy child care sector ready to care for the children of working parents. (Of course, a strong child care sector is also critical to ensuring that children get off to a strong start in life!)
