When we first met Faruk, the three-year old was shy and uncomfortable around new people. “Faruk had noticed other people’s reactions when they saw his eyes. He got uncomfortable and would hide under my coat most of the time", his father said.
Faruk had strabismus: his left eye turned noticeably out of alignment when he was focusing on something. Strabismus is a serious condition for a child’s developing sight. Without care, it can lead to life-long vision loss and blindness.
Faruk was treated during a focused strabismus surgical training in Hawassa, Ethiopia. He got the surgery he needed — and at no cost because of supporters like you.
Friend, will you give your most generous gift now which will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to a generous Orbis supporter and give the gift of sight to a little boy or girl who desperately needs you?
Even as we celebrate Faruk’s healthy vision, we know that there are so many more children like him waiting for the care they need.
That’s why your best gift right now is so important. Around the world, nearly 90 million young people live with vision loss. Among them, about 2 million children are completely — but not irreversibly — blind. By partnering with Orbis to advance our pediatric work, you’re giving children their best start in life.
Gratefully,
Orbis
P.S. Your special gift today is doubled and can help us reach another child like Faruk who desperately needs surgery or treatment to see clearly. Thank you for your support for this life-changing work.
