Hello Friends,
I wanted to share something with you that has gotten me excited!
November is fast approaching and there is a democratic SURGE in Wisconsin. While national polls show this state narrowing up, we are confident with hard work Wisconsin will go blue and here is why:
1. New Maps: Wisconsin has long been a GOP legislative stronghold because of their gerrymandering, but with new fair legislative maps signed into law by Governor Tony Evers, there is a once in a decade opportunity to break that grip on power!
2. New Candidates: It was recently announced that over 120 democratic campaigns are underway in 97 of the 99 State Assembly Districts! [1]
3. Reverse Coat-tails Effect: A data analysis found that down-ballot candidates like those for State Assembly can create an additional .4% - 2.3% bump in voter turnout. [2] That is a Wisconsin landslide victory margin!
Your contribution, no matter the size, will help us capitalize on this major opportunity and make a significant impact.
For those who don't know me, my name is Tara Johnson and I am one of those 120 Assembly Candidates running for the Assembly in District 96. I have hit the ground running, working hard and am honored to have received the endorsements of Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski and State Senator Brad Pfaff, but this race is different however . . .
I am running against a MAGA Republican incumbent in a district that hasn't been represented by a Democrat in decades. Now with fair maps, he has lost his gerrymander protection and holds one of the must win, flippable 15 seats we need to turn Wisconsin and the Assembly blue!
Now I'll be honest, while we have already been out in parades, at events, knocking doors, and talking to voters this will be a tough fight. I intend to win by getting out the vote on November 5th by doing the following:
1. Staff: Hiring a Field Coordinator to implement an ambitious ground campaign in order to help me knock every door we need to before November.
2. Mail: Sending targeted mail to reach voters to spread our message and remind them to vote.
3. Showing Up: Driving to every corner of the district to meet voters where they are at and show up to community events
This plan will not only see me win but help us win the flippable 15 but it will turn out the vote up the ballot. There is one problem: we need the resources to do all three!
Will you please make an investment of $250, $100, $50, or anything you can right now so we get started now and hit our targets for November?
Our grassroots campaign is made up of people like you and our win is going to be because of support from people like you. People who know that we need good, quality candidates running in every seat!
Because of you, we're going to make this happen,
Onwards,
Tara Johnson
