Last week, Senate Republicans voted against a bill that would protect access to contraception nationwide. At a time when state courts and legislatures are restricting abortion access, IVF, and contraceptives across the map, this blatant and outright refusal to protect basic women’s autonomy is just one more way that our legislators are infringing on our most basic rights.

The vast majority of Americans are in favor of protecting access to contraception, so it’s completely ridiculous that Republicans opposed this bill. Republican Senators are supposed to represent the will of their constituents, and in this instance, they are playing up to special interests and the far-right, not the people in their states.

This entire issue boils down to the fact that our courts are being infiltrated by the influence of conservative mega-donors and they have finally eroded one of our most crucial rights: the right to bodily autonomy.
