John, sign our urgent petition to Congress: Close the gender pay gap immediately!
High-profile cases of gender-based pay discrimination, like that of WNBA star Caitlin Clark, have recently brought awareness to the severity of this issues. Despite Clark's impressive performance and the amount of increased attention she brings to the WNBA, her maximum possible salary is just a fraction of what her male counterparts make.
But it's not only sports superstars who are impacted. In 2022, American women earned around 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. Studies show that a woman must complete at least one additional educational degree to earn as much as a man with less education. The gender pay gap has remained at this amount for around 20 years — it's time for change.
Our govenment must implement strong laws and stringent enforcement to close the gender pay gap once and for all. Employers must be subject to salary transparency and gender pay audits. It's shameful that women in America are still dealing with this blatant discrimination in 2024. We are calling for immediate action: the enactment of legislation that finally closes this pay gap and the implementation of regulations that will hold businesses accountable for discriminatory practices.
Sign the petition to Congress: It's past time for equal pay. Close the gender pay gap!
Thank you,
Democratic Values
