In 2018, Cruz came within three points of being defeated.
Despite Ted Cruz’s public attempts to exude confidence in his reelection, he doesn’t seem to be so sure anymore.
At the Texas GOP Convention last month, our part-time senator warned his colleagues of a potential upset — where he loses reelection to Democratic rival Colin Allred.
For once, we agree with Ted. Here's why:

In 2018, the notion of Texas being a safe GOP stronghold was pierced when Cruz was nearly toppled by his then-rival, Beto O’Rourke. O’Rourke came within three points of unseating Ted — the closest margin for any statewide Republican that year.
Now, in 2024, Cruz has been hobbled by new issues. From the ethics investigation into his sh*tty podcast, a never-ending stream of negative headlines, to consistently falling behind Allred’s fundraising, it probably isn’t great to be Ted right now.
John, Ted Cruz knows the walls are closing in on his reelection chances. And he’s getting desperate. About 55% of the nearly $26 million Cruz has raised from this cycle has come from people who don’t live in Texas.1
Ted Cruz is running scared — and we plan on keeping him scared. Can you pitch in $20.24 today to help our movement become even stronger for the long road ahead?
