Jack, yesterday was National Gun Violence Awareness Day and the beginning of Wear Orange Weekend. 

As a law enforcement officer, a father, and a Hoosier, I am dedicated to fighting for common sense gun safety policies in our state. I was so proud to pass the first gun reform law in recent history during the 2023 legislative session to ban machine gun conversion devices.
 


In 2023, Indiana had one of the highest rates in the nation for unintentional child shootings. This session, I fought hard to pass safe storage legislation to prevent children from gaining access to firearms.

I’m the only legislator in the last decade to get a gun reform bill through the Republican majority. Hoosier children need a safe storage law, and I plan to fight even harder to get one on the books this year.
