On the 80th anniversary of D-Day... Washington, D.C. - Before heading back to D.C., I had a great time visiting with our newest class of Service Academy appointees at our annual Service Academy potluck yesterday. Attending a U.S. Service Academy is an honor bestowed on a small few and I was grateful to nominate these outstanding young men and women from Texas-24. On Tuesday, I joined my colleagues on the Small Business Committee for an oversight hearing to investigate the Small Business Administration's use of taxpayer funds to register voters in a swing state in an effort to prop up President Biden's campaign. The SBA's duty is to American small businesses, not the President's reelection efforts. Later, I met with North Texans from the Tarrant County non-profit, Alliance for Children, whose mission is to protect North Texas children from child abuse and provide services to help victims heal. I’m grateful for the work they do for our community. I voted to stand with our ally, Israel, as she faces baseless attacks from the International Criminal Court (ICC). Make no mistake, the ICC turns a blind eye to dictators and terrorists across the world and is intentionally singling out the world’s only Jewish state as she defends herself from existential threats. Texas is the largest energy-producing state with the fastest-growing population. On Wednesday, I spoke at the Washington Energy Summit to share Texas' approach to meeting the needs of our growing population and how this has led to a virtuous cycle of growth, investment, expansion, and innovation. I’m grateful to the Republican Study Steering Committee for supporting my amendment to end the egregious practice of taxpayer-subsidized abortion through President Biden's DoD. We should support expecting mothers to choose life, not incentivize elective abortion. Great to visit with some of North Texas’s finest this week, Chief Eddy Garcia from Dallas Police Department and Chief Derick Miller from Irving Police Department. I joined my colleague, Congressman Balderson, in introducing a formal challenge to Biden’s disastrous plan to shutter American power plants. I’m working to expand domestic energy production to lower costs and put our national security first. On Thursday, we observed the 80th anniversary of D-Day. In 1944, 73,000 Americans joined the Allied forces on the beaches of Normandy in the largest amphibious assault in history to help liberate Europe. We will always remember the brave men who laid down their lives to stand against tyranny to fight for freedom around the world. I voted to pass the FY25 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act to fully fund veterans’ benefits and health care. Although we can never truly express our gratitude for the sacrifices of our service members, we can at least make sure they’re taken care of the way they deserve. I recently led a bipartisan effort with Congressman Cleaver (D-Missouri) urging the FAA and DOT to act swiftly to improve the transportation of organs to ensure these gifts of life reach their intended recipients quickly and safely. ATTENTION: Dallas County was added to Governor Abbott's disaster declaration due to this week’s storms. Texas-24 Work of the Week Our Small Business Committee is investigating the SBA’s misuse of taxpayer money to fund Biden’s reelection campaign through voter registration efforts. The SBA has completely lost focus on its mission and continues to put our job creators last. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Grapevine’s very own Wally Funk, who was recently inducted into the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame for her trailblazing accomplishments. In her words, "I never let anything stop me." Rep. Van Duyne on Twitter Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your voice in Washington.
