Dear Granite City Neighbors,?
The sun is shining, school is out, and the legislative session is adjourned. I hope you and yours are enjoying this beautiful start to summer!
Personally, my summer could not be off to a better start. I?m ecstatic to share that I recently asked my girlfriend Erika to marry me, and she said yes!
I shared our story and engagement photos with Kelly Cordes of WJON, you can read all the details here. Our family is truly blessed!
Ok, now that I shared my glorious personal news, back to business.
Even though committee meetings and floor debates are done for the year, I never stop working for you. This time when I?m back in St. Cloud, talking to our neighbors and community leaders, is often when I get the best ideas for legislation to carry. Productive legislative sessions are built during the interim!?
Here?s your latest update:

Retaining Police Officers
Minnesota is currently experiencing a law enforcement workforce crisis that poses a direct threat to the safety and security of our communities. We are heading down a workforce, public safety cliff, and it?s going to take new ideas to ensure we have the number of police officers we need to keep Minnesotans safe.?
That?s why I?m working on legislation to allow officers who hit their retirement age of 55 to stay on the job, continue to earn their salary, AND be able to draw on their pension without penalty.?
I?m proud to author this legislation in partnership with the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association, and Law Enforcement Labor Services.?
